เครื่องแต่งกายสตรีแบบราชสำนัก: มุมมองใหม่ของแฟชั่นในราชสำนักสยามสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๖
ระหว่างการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่องเครื่องแต่งกายราชสำนักอังกฤษในสยามช่วงรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ผมได้ศึกษาภาพถ่ายขาวดำสามภาพของพระมเหสีและพระสนมในรัชกาลที่ 6 ซึ่งล้วนแต่งกายแบบราชสำนักสะท้อนอิทธิพลของโลกตะวันตกผสมผสานกับเอกลักษณ์ของราชสำนักไทยอย่างชัดเจน
สองพระองค์แรก ได้แก่ สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสุวัทนา พระวรราชเทวี และ สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าอินทรศักดิศจี พระวรราชชายา ทรงฉลองพระองค์แบบตะวันตกที่คล้ายคลึงกับชุดราตรีราชสำนักอังกฤษ พร้อมด้วยศิราภรณ์แบบเทียร่า โดยเฉพาะสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสุวัทนา พระวรราชเทวี ทรงสวมฉลองพระองค์สไตล์อาร์ตเดโคที่มีความวิจิตรตระการตา คู่กับชายผ้าที่ยาวลากพื้น พร้อมกับเทียร่าและพระเกศาประดับขนนกกระจอกเทศขนาดใหญ่ตามแฟชั่นยุค art deco ที่สง่างาม
ส่วนพระรูปที่สามคือ พระนางเธอลักษมีลาวัณ อดีตคู่หมั้นของพระมหากษัตริย์ ทรงปรากฏในเครื่องแต่งกายแบบผสมผสานระหว่างเสื้อตะวันตก ผ้าซิ่นไทย เทียร่า และผ้าคลุมไหลแบบปักดิ้นแบบไทย ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงความพยายามของสตรีชั้นสูงในราชสำนักไทยยุคนั้นในการปรับตัวและถ่ายทอดอัตลักษณ์ใหม่ของ “ความทันสมัย” ผ่านการแต่งกายที่สง่างามและทรงคุณค่า
แม้ว่าจะมีภาพเพียงสามภาพที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงการแต่งกายแบบราชสำนักสยามที่ผมได้ค้นคว้ามา แต่ภาพทั้งสามได้กลายมาเป็นแรงบันดาลใจสำคัญของงานสร้างสรรค์ในครั้งนี้ ผมได้นำภาพถ่ายขาวดำเหล่านั้นมาลงสีและปรับคุณภาพด้วยเทคโนโลยี AI เพื่อสร้างเป็นชุดข้อมูลจำนวน 50 ภาพ ซึ่งใช้ในการฝึกโมเดลปัญญาประดิษฐ์ Flux LoRA ที่ออกแบบขึ้นเฉพาะสำหรับการอนุรักษ์ภาพแฟชั่นและเครื่องแต่งกายไทยในประวัติศาสตร์
คอลเลกชันนี้เน้นย้ำถึงความงามที่ละเอียดอ่อนและการประนีประนอมทางวัฒนธรรมในเครื่องแต่งกายของสตรีชั้นสูงในราชสำนักสยาม การดัดแปลงเครื่องแบบราชสำนักจากตะวันตกจึงมิใช่การลอกเลียน แต่เป็นกระบวนการคัดสรรและปรับใช้ที่สะท้อนจิตวิญญาณของราชสำนักไทยในยุคเปลี่ยนผ่าน
สำหรับส่วนตัวผม ผมก็ยังคงสำรวจการพัฒนาการของแฟชั่นราชสำนักไทยภายใต้อิทธิพลของโลกตะวันตกผ่านภาพที่ผมสร้างสรรค์ด้วย AI อย่างต่อเนื่อง — ทีละภาพ อย่างตั้งใจครับ
Three Consorts in Court Dress: A Glimpse into Siamese Royal Fashion through AI
While researching British court dress in Siam during the reign of King Rama VI, I came across three rare black-and-white photographs of his consorts dressed in court attire—each reflecting a unique blend of Western influence and Siamese identity. Two of them—Queen Suvadhana and Queen Indrasaksaji—are seen wearing Western-style court dress reminiscent of British evening gowns, complete with elegant silhouettes and elaborate feathered headpieces. Especially striking is Queen Suvadhana’s ensemble, which features an Art Deco-style gown paired with a separate train worn like a cape, cascading behind her with royal grandeur.
The third portrait features Princess Lakshamilavan, the King’s former fiancée, dressed in a distinctive hybrid style that combines a Western blouse, traditional Thai pha-sin, and a tiara—offering a refined interpretation of Siamese modernity in royal fashion.
Although only three such photographs exist showing these women in court dress, they have become the foundation for a broader creative exploration. Using AI, I colourised and enhanced these images to serve as part of a dataset of 50 photographs used to train my custom Flux LoRA model. This AI-enhanced collection brings new life to visual records of Siam’s cultural transitions and the royal court’s adaptation of Edwardian fashion trends.
This collection draws inspiration from the elegance and cultural negotiation embodied in these royal portraits. While adopting key elements of British court dress, these Siamese interpretations were never mere copies—they reveal a subtle balance between global fashion and royal identity.
