สมเด็จพระศรีพัชรินทราบรมราชินีนาถ ทรงโปรดปรานในเครื่องประดับอัญมณีเป็นอย่างยิ่ง นอกจากจะทรงได้รับพระราชทานเป็นของขวัญของฝากจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว พระบรมราชสวามี ซึ่งจะเห็นได้ว่าทุกครั้งที่เสด็จประพาสต่างประเทศจะทรงเอาพระทัยใส่ หาอัญมณีมีค่าสุดกลับมาฝากและพระราชทานพระอัครมเหสีอยู่เสมอมิได้ขาด ไม่นับรวมกับที่สมเด็จพระศรีพัชรินทราบรมราชินีนาถ ทรงสะสมซื้อหามาด้วยพระราชทรัพย์ส่วนพระองค์ และมีผู้สรรมาทูลเกล้าฯ ถวาย และยังทรงได้รับเป็นของขวัญจากประมุขประเทศต่างๆ เช่น มงกุฎหรือรัดเกล้าเพชรจากเอมเปรสแห่งรัสเซีย หรือวลัยกรนิลน้ำงามมงคลเพชรจากเอ็มเปรสแห่งอิตาลี

A magnificent set of large, flawless white diamonds arranged in a double-layered necklace encircling the neck like cascading festoons. The set included a diamond chrysanthemum tiara for the head, a matching chrysanthemum diamond brooch, a cluster of three large floral diamond sprays, finely pierced diamond bracelets worn on both wrists, and matching diamond rings.
2. The Grand Circular Diamond Necklace
A three-tiered diamond sangwan necklace, composed of graduated round diamonds arranged in successive rows, worn with full royal regalia of a queen (ขัตติยนารี).
This necklace is famously known as the “Mae Seththi Diamond Necklace” (สร้อยเพชรแม่เศรษฐี).
3. The Pear-Shaped Diamond and Pearl Set
A resplendent necklace of large pear-shaped diamonds alternating with lustrous pearls of exceptional quality. The diamonds were notably large and of extraordinary clarity, complemented by matching diamond-and-pearl pendants and a wide-radiating diamond-and-pearl sangwan covering the chest in full splendour.
4. The Ruby Parure
A supreme-quality ruby set featuring vivid, deep-red rubies cut into heart, oval, and faceted shapes, combined with auspicious diamond motifs. The set included a ruby-and-diamond sangwan necklace with bird motifs, armlets, earrings, bracelets, rings, ruby-set brooches, and even a jewel-encrusted buckle, all crafted to the highest standards.
5. The Emerald Set
A remarkable collection of large, square-cut emeralds of exceptional colour and clarity, including necklaces, armlets, bracelets, rings, and matching brooches set with diamonds. It was widely said that this emerald set was among the most valuable gemstone collections in the entire Eastern region.
6. The Sapphire (Nil) Parure
A precious set of deep-blue sapphires, embellished with auspicious diamond motifs and delicate gold kanok patterns. This included a complete sapphire sangwan parure of great splendour, featuring sapphires of the coveted “water hyacinth” hue (ไพลินสีผักตบ).
7. The Pearl Collection
In addition, Her Majesty amassed an extensive pearl collection of various sizes and colours, ranging from very large to small pearls. These included multi-strand pearl sangwan necklaces with diamond tassels, as well as pearls in soft rose, honey-yellow, and other rare natural shades of exceptional quality.
Her Majesty Queen Saovabha Phongsri had a deep appreciation for fine jewellery. In addition to the many jewels bestowed upon her by King Chulalongkorn—who, on every overseas journey, made a point of acquiring precious gemstones as gifts for his Queen—she also acquired many pieces through her own personal means. Furthermore, she received magnificent gifts from foreign sovereigns, such as a diamond crown or tiara from the Empress of Russia, and a sapphire-and-diamond bracelet from the Empress of Italy.

Prince Chula Chakrabongse

recounted this in his memoir Born in the Palace (เกิดวังปารุสก์):
“...Whenever Her Majesty was to attend a function, the ladies-in-waiting would bring out all of her jewellery for her to choose from—except for the truly grand pieces, which were not kept at Phaya Thai Palace, as those were stored within the Grand Palace. Even so, her lesser pieces alone resembled the stock of a large jewellery house in a European capital. The attendants had to carry them out on numerous trays; sometimes a single tray would contain as many as sixty gemstone rings...”
Chao Chom M.R. Waem Malakul devoted her life to loyal service in close attendance upon King Chulalongkorn and Queen Saovabha Phongsri, earning their complete trust. She was responsible for safeguarding the Queen Mother’s personal treasures with absolute integrity and diligence, leaving behind a record unblemished by any suspicion or reproach throughout her lifetime.
