ฉลองพระองค์เครื่องแบบเต็มยศทหารมหาดเล็กราชวัลลภรักษาพระองค์ที่ปรากฏในคอลเลกชันนี้ อ้างอิงจากเครื่องแบบเต็มยศใหญ่ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ ซึ่งมีการเปลี่ยนมาใช้เสื้อเต็มยศใหญ่สีแดงอย่างเดียวใน พ.ศ. ๒๔๓๔ นายทหารยังคงใช้สายสะพายไหมแดงริ้วทองสลับเงิน พาดจากพระอังสาขวามายังเบื้องซ้าย สายสะพายลักษณะนี้ใช้มาตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. ๒๔๑๔ จนถึงช่วงหลัง พ.ศ. ๒๔๔๐ จึงเลิกใช้
การทรงฉลองพระองค์เครื่องแบบดังกล่าวยังสะท้อนพระราชนิยมในพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ที่โปรดเกล้าโปรดกระหม่อมให้สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกยาเธอและพระเจ้าลูกยาเธอทุกพระองค์ที่รับราชการทหาร เข้ารับราชการเป็นนายทหารพิเศษประจำกรมทหารมหาดเล็กราชวัลลภรักษาพระองค์

The five princes in full-dress uniform of the King’s Own Bodyguard Regiment
This collection comprises royal photographic portraits of King Vajiravudh, Rama VI (พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๖), and King Prajadhipok, Rama VII (พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๗), together with photographic portraits of their three full royal brothers, all born to Queen Saovabha Phongsri, the Queen Mother Sri Bajarindra (สมเด็จพระศรีพัชรินทราบรมราชินีนาถ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง).
All five princes are shown wearing the full-dress uniform of the King’s Own Bodyguard Regiment, the Mahat Lek Ratchawallop Guards (ทหารมหาดเล็กราชวัลลภรักษาพระองค์).

3. Prince Asdang Dejavudh, Prince of Nakhon Ratchasima (สมเด็จพระเชษฐาธิราช เจ้าฟ้าอัษฎางค์เดชาวุธ กรมหลวงนครราชสีมา) 1889–1924/1925, according to calendar convention
4. Prince Chudadhuj Dharadilok, Prince of Phetchabun (สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้าจุฑาธุชธราดิลก กรมขุนเพ็ชรบูรณ์อินทราไชย) 1892–1923
5. King Prajadhipok, Rama VII (พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๗) 1893–1941
The full-dress uniform of the Mahat Lek Ratchawallop Guards represented in this collection refers to the grand full-dress form adopted during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V. In 1891, the regiment adopted the red full-dress tunic as its principal ceremonial uniform. Officers continued to wear the distinctive red silk sash with alternating gold and silver stripes, worn from the right shoulder across to the left side. This form of sash had been in use from 1871 until it was discontinued sometime after 1897.
The wearing of this uniform also reflects King Chulalongkorn’s royal preference for appointing his sons who entered military service as special officers attached to the Mahat Lek Ratchawallop Guards. Through this practice, military dress became not only a marker of rank and service, but also a visual expression of dynastic discipline, royal modernity, and the close relationship between the monarchy and the modernising Siamese army.
